How to Score a Game Using Quick Action Buttons in Baseball Blitz

Introduction

Baseball Blitz provides four quick action buttons on the live scoring screen: Ball, Strike, Foul, and Ball in Play. These buttons allow you to record common game events quickly while automatically updating the pitch count, outs, runners, and player statistics.

Step 1: Open the Scoring Screen

Open the game you want to score and go to the Score tab. The live field screen displays the batter, pitcher, fielders, runners, score, inning, and current ball-strike-out count.

At the bottom of the screen, you will see the four quick action buttons.

How to Record a Ball, Strike, or Foul

To record a pitch outside the strike zone, tap Ball. Baseball Blitz will add a ball and automatically update the pitch count.

To record a strike, tap Strike. Two options will appear:

  • Swing (K): Select this when the batter swings and misses.
  • Looking: Select this when the batter does not swing and the pitch is called a strike.

Choose the option that matches the pitch.

To record a foul ball, tap Foul. The app will record the event and update the strike count according to the current game situation.

The Ball, Strike, and Foul buttons remain available on the main field screen throughout the game.

How to Record a Ball in Play

When the batter makes contact and the ball enters play, tap Ball in Play.

The following options will appear:

  • Fair Ball
  • Catch Out

Choose the option that matches what happened on the field.

Record a Fare Ball

Tap Fair Ball to open the available contact types:

  • Bunt
  • Ground Ball
  • Hard Ground Ball
  • Line Drive
  • Fly Ball
  • Pop Fly

Select the option that best describes how the ball was hit.

The Hit Outcome menu will then appear. From here, you can select:

  • Batter Out
  • Fielding Error
  • Single
  • Double
  • Triple
  • Home Run
  • Home Run In-the-park

Choose the correct outcome of the play.

If the Batter Reaches Base Safely

If the batter reaches the base safely select the correct hit result, such as Single, Double, Triple, or Home Run.

The fielder-selection screen will open. Tap the fielder who handled the ball, or drag the ball icon to the appropriate fielding position.

After selecting the fielder, the ball icon will appear over that position. Review the selection and tap Done to save the play.

Baseball Blitz will record the hit and move the batter to the correct base. For example, after recording a single, the batter will appear as a runner at first base.

If the Batter Is Out on a Fair Ball

Tap Ball in Play and select Fair Ball.

Choose the appropriate contact type, such as Ground Ball, Line Drive, or another option that describes the play.

When the Hit Outcome menu appears, select Batter Out.

Next, choose where or how the batter was put out:

  • Out at 1st
  • Out at 2nd
  • Out at 3rd
  • Out at Home
  • Batter Interference

The fielder-selection screen will appear. Tap or drag the fielder who handled the ball. If the play involved multiple fielders, record the required fielding sequence, then tap Done.

Baseball Blitz will record the out, update the out count, and return you to the field screen.

How to Record a Catch Out

When a defensive player catches the ball before it touches the ground, tap Ball in Play and select Catch Out.

Choose the type of ball that was caught:

  • Line Drive
  • Fly Ball
  • Pop Fly

Next, select the appropriate catch outcome. The available options depend on the contact type you selected. For example, selecting Line Drive displays:

  • Line Out
  • Foul Line Out

Choose the option that matches the play.

Place the Pending Runners

If runners were already on base, the Place the Pending Runners screen will appear after the catch out is recorded.

This screen shows:

  • Initial: Where each player was positioned before the play.
  • Pending: Runners whose final positions still need to be recorded.
  • Final: The completed result for each batter or runner.

The batter will already appear as Out. Move each pending runner to the base where they finished the play.

Mark each runner Safe or Out, depending on the result. For example, if the runner remained safely at first base, place the runner at first and mark them Safe.

Once all pending runners have been placed correctly, tap Done.

Baseball Blitz will save the catch out, update the number of outs, place the runners in their final positions, and return you to the scoring screen.

Before completing any ball-in-play action, confirm that you selected the correct contact type, play outcome, fielder, and runner positions. This will keep the live score and player statistics accurate throughout the game.
